Local Gathering Guidelines
Below are a series of agreements for what kind of human to be when you attend a Local Gathering.
Basically; be authentic, kind and willing to be awkward and don’t be a dick. Easy!
Mutual Respect and Unconditional High-Regard
1
At KINaKIN we honour all people as equal. Differences of race, culture, gender, sexuality, religion or background are celebrated and honoured as an opportunity for learning. Discrimination or harmful language is not tolerated.
Variety is the Spice of Life
2
Everyone’s experience is valid. We hold space for different views and perspectives with curiosity instead of judgement.
Keep it Confidential
3
What is shared in the space held by KINaKIN remains in the space. All people respect the privacy and vulnerability of others.
Practice Presence
4
When you come to a Local Gathering you commit to aiming to be fully present and minimising distraction where possible.
Emotions
5
All emotions are welcome - there is no need to mask, suppress or perform.
6
Honouring Boundaries
We are all welcome to say no, pass, pause, take a break or step back at any time.
Radical Responsibility
7
All are responsible for their own emotional/physical responses to what comes up throughout the gathering. Participation and acquired outcomes are the responsibility of the individual.
Growth over Perfection
8
This is a learning space for exploration and testing ideas not a space to be ‘right’. We value the journey and every destination along the way.
Comparison
9
Participants understand that comparing themselves with others steals everyone’s joy and that we are all on our own unique journey. No-one is better or more worthy than any other person.
Experience over Opinion
10
Participants share their personal experiences and avoid projecting their opinions onto others.
Stay in Your Own Lane
11
We honour the role of the facilitator and avoid advising others unless invited to do so by the facilitator.
Seek Consent
12
We ask before offering feedback, reflection or guidance.
Interrupting Sucks
14
We listen without interrupting when someone else is speaking.
Time and Space
13
Participants honour session start and finish times and the duration of time together, not dominating the airspace and instead allowing space for other voices to be heard.
